When ERC20 is almost always the wrong answer

We're going to be direct here, because vague content wastes your gas. For a typical poker deposit, ERC20 is the worst pick among the five USDT networks Deep Poker accepts. Specifically:

• If you're depositing $500 or less,Ethereum gas can be 5–10% of the amount you're sending. TRC20 or TON will deliver the same USDT for a tenth of the cost.
• If your USDT is on Binance, Bybit, or OKX,you're choosing to pay more by selecting ERC20 — the exchange's TRC20 withdrawal fee is typically under 1 USDT, while ERC20 often runs $7–$15.
• If you care about deposit speed, ERC20 is the slowest rail in the USDT lineup — 3–10 minutes of chain time, longer during congestion. TON clears in 5–15 seconds.
• If you're new to crypto deposits, ERC20 has the most failure modes: gas underpayment, stuck transactions, wrong-network sends to BEP20 addresses. The learning curve is steeper here than anywhere else.

We're telling you this before we take your deposit because the relationship matters more than the conversion. If another network serves you better, use it.

When ERC20 is the right call

There are narrow but legitimate cases where ERC20 beats every other rail on Deep Poker. If any of these describe you, send on ERC20 and move on.

You're depositing a large amount where gas is rounding error

Moving $20,000 of USDT? Paying $15 in gas is a 0.075% friction cost. At that scale, ERC20 is fine — and you get the security and liquidity of Ethereum mainnet, which some players prefer for large balances.

Your USDT is genuinely stuck on Ethereum

DeFi-native users sometimes hold USDT on Ethereum that they can't easily bridge out — locked in a yield protocol, or tied up in a position where unstaking has a delay. For those users, ERC20 is the practical choice until the position unwinds.

You prefer a chain you know inside and out

Experienced Ethereum users — people who've held USDT on ERC20 since 2019, use MetaMask every day, and know how to read a gas chart — often stay on the rail they trust. There's nothing wrong with this.

Low-congestion windows

Ethereum gas has strong daily and weekly patterns. Late nights US time, weekends, and periods between major on-chain events tend to run $2–$5 per transfer. If you check a gas tracker and gas is below 15 gwei, ERC20 is genuinely competitive — just don't send during an NFT mint or DeFi event.

If your USDT is on Ethereum but you don't want to pay the gas

You have options. Bridging out of Ethereum is usually cheaper than sending directly from it.

Route 1 — exchange round-trip

Send your ERC20 USDT to a centralized exchange (Binance, Bybit, OKX) as ERC20. The exchange credits your spot balance. From there, withdraw to Deep Poker as TRC20 or BEP20. Net cost is typically one ERC20 in ($7–$15) + one TRC20 out (~1 USDT). This often beats a direct ERC20 deposit because the exchange aggregates gas across thousands of transfers.

Route 2 — bridge to Arbitrum

Arbitrum is an Ethereum Layer 2 with the same security assumptions as mainnet but ~95% cheaper fees. Use Circle's official USDC/USDT bridge or Across Protocol to move your USDT to Arbitrum, then deposit to Deep Poker as USDT Arbitrum. Good pick if you already have an Arbitrum wallet configured.

Route 3 — just send ERC20 if the amount is large enough

For deposits above ~$2,000, the bridge round-trip often costs about the same as a direct ERC20 send, without the extra steps. Do the math once, pick the cheaper route.

ERC20 vs TRC20 vs BEP20 vs TON — the honest scorecard

ERC20 loses on speed and cost to every other rail. It wins on nothing unless your USDT is already on Ethereum.

How to deposit USDT ERC20 on Deep Poker

Seven steps. The first one is the one most guides skip — checking gas before you commit.

1. Check current Ethereum gas before anything else.

   Open etherscan.io/gastracker in another tab. If current gas is above 50 gwei, consider waiting — a USDT transfer costs roughly (gas price × 65,000 × ETH price / 1e9). At 100 gwei and $4,000 ETH, that's over $26 just for the transfer. ERC20 is the one rail where timing matters.

2. Create your Deep Poker account.

   Go to deep.poker/register. Email plus password. No phone, no KYC, no identity upload. Under a minute from click to deposit screen.

3. Open the USDT ERC20 deposit screen.

   In your Deep Poker panel, click Deposit, choose USDT, then choose the ERC20 (Ethereum) network. Deep shows you a permanent 0x-prefixed deposit address and a QR code.

4. Copy the ERC20 deposit address.

   Copy the full address exactly. Do not type it by hand. Verify the 'Ethereum' or 'ERC20' network label is highlighted on Deep's screen — the same 0x-format address can also route to BEP20 or Arbitrum if you pick the wrong network in your wallet.

5. Send USDT from your wallet or exchange on Ethereum.

   In MetaMask, confirm you're on Ethereum Mainnet (not BNB Smart Chain, not Arbitrum). On Binance, pick 'Ethereum (ERC20)' from the network dropdown. Paste the address, enter the amount, review the gas estimate carefully, confirm. Make sure you have enough ETH in the same wallet for gas.

6. Wait for ~12 confirmations.

   Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds. Deep Poker waits for ~12 confirmations, roughly 2–3 minutes of chain time in normal conditions, longer during congestion. Paste your TXID into etherscan.io to watch the count climb.

7. Your Deep Poker balance updates — start playing.

   Once confirmed, Deep credits your balance automatically. Transfer chips into any ClubGG, PPPoker, or PokerBros club you have access to. Every hand earns rakeback from the first hand — 25% at Bronze, scaling up the 6-tier ladder to 50% at Legend.

Ethereum gas, explained for poker senders

Ethereum fees are the most complicated part of ERC20, and the part you can meaningfully optimize. Worth understanding once.

The formula

Every Ethereum transaction pays: gas used × gas price (in gwei) × ETH price, divided by 10⁹ to get dollars. A USDT ERC20 transfer uses roughly 65,000 gas. At 30 gwei gas price and $4,000 ETH, that's 65,000 × 30 × 4,000 / 10⁹ = $7.80.

EIP-1559 base fee + priority tip

Post-London, Ethereum splits the fee into a base fee (burned, set by demand) and a priority tip(paid to validators). MetaMask and most wallets calculate both automatically. The base fee is what moves most, and what you can't negotiate down without risking your transaction getting skipped.

Gas price volatility

Gas spikes during high-demand events: major NFT mints, DeFi liquidations, airdrops, token launches. During calm periods, gas can sit at 5–15 gwei for days. The 10x swing between quiet and busy is normal — patience is the cheapest gas optimizer in the market.

Tools for checking gas

• etherscan.io/gastracker — real-time gas with percentile estimates.
• ultrasound.money — shows gas alongside ETH supply metrics; good for context.
• ethereumprice.org/gas — simple dollar conversions for common transaction types.

MetaMask's Slow / Market / Aggressive

MetaMask offers three speeds. "Slow" pays the lowest priority tip that will still get included eventually (usually within a few minutes). "Market" is the middle. "Aggressive" pays extra to guarantee fast inclusion. For a Deep Poker deposit, "Slow" or "Market" is almost always the right pick — saving $3–$5 in tip costs means $3–$5 more in your Deep balance.

Confirmation times — 3–10 minutes, and why the range is so wide

Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds. Deep Poker waits for ~12 confirmations before crediting — about 2–3 minutes of chain time in the normal case.

The reason the total range is 3–10 minutes rather than a tight window: during high congestion, your transaction may sit in the mempool for extra blocks before getting included. Low-fee transactions can take even longer, or get skipped entirely. This is why the "check gas first" step matters so much more on Ethereum than on TRON or BNB Chain.

Once Deep sees 12 confirmations on etherscan.io, it credits your balance within a minute. If your transaction is confirmed but your Deep balance hasn't updated after 30 minutes, open a support ticket with your TXID.

Troubleshooting the common ERC20 problems

My transaction is stuck pending for hours

You underpaid gas, and the current base fee moved above your offer. Two options: speed up (MetaMask: click the pending transaction → Speed Up → accept the higher fee) which resubmits at the same nonce with a higher price; or cancel (same flow, Cancel button) which sends a $0 self-transaction at the same nonce and replaces the stuck one. Cancellation still costs a small amount of gas but prevents the original from eventually going through at a bad moment.

I sent ERC20 to a BEP20 address (or vice versa)

Same hex address format on both chains. Your USDT went to the chain you were signed on, not the chain Deep Poker was expecting. Recovery is sometimes possible when the destination is controlled by the same operator. Contact Deep Poker support immediately with your TXID and the chain you broadcast on.

"Insufficient ETH for gas"

You have USDT but no ETH to pay gas. Buy a small amount of ETH on any exchange and send it to your wallet, or swap USDT to ETH inside your wallet using a DEX like Uniswap. Keep at least 0.01 ETH as a permanent gas reserve after that.

Etherscan shows confirmed, Deep balance hasn't updated

Wait five minutes after 12 confirmations. If your Deep balance still hasn't moved after 30 minutes, open a support ticket with your TXID and your Deep account email.

MetaMask estimates gas that seems insane

Gas genuinely does spike during busy periods. Cross-check the estimate against etherscan.io/gastracker — if MetaMask's estimate is within the range the tracker shows as "Fast" or "Market," it's accurate. If the number looks much higher, close the dialog and check for phishing or a compromised token approval.

Someone on Telegram offered to "help" with the deposit

Withdrawing on ERC20 — same rail, same SLA
